Carrying out my GAME plan

1.) What resources will you need to carry out your plan (video, reading, experts or colleagues, etc)?
- Computer with internet
- Continue to establish my teacher webpage (Blackboard)
- Collaboration with my ITS at my school
- Microsoft Publisher to create a newsletter send to parents

2.) What additional information do you need?
- Reminder of how to set up group email spreadsheets using Excel or Word—this I am collaborating with my ITS about.

3.) What steps have you been able to take so far?
- Established my teacher webpage through Blackboard
- Established a blogging link on my webpage
- I have already signed up to be a technology mentor through my school district. This allows me to attend the monthly technology meetings to learn different ways to integrate technology into my curriculum
- I have joined a PLN: http://www.technologyintegrationineducation.com/

  1. Hi Amy. It sounds like you are well on your way to completing your GAME plan. Great Job! I am curious as to why you chose Blackboard for your teacher webpage? Is it free? Is it user-friendly for you and also for others to access? What blogging site are you using? Are you expecting students to blog for academic purposes or is it more just a way to communicate outside of school? Do students at your school have individual email addresses? Have you found the technology PLN to be helpful yet? I look forward to checking it out!

  3. Wow! Those are great steps and I envy your ability to be able to access Blackboard and blogs through your building. It does not seem like you are having any difficulties with your action plan.

  4. Linda, Roderick, and Jennifer,
My school district uses Blackboard for every teacher in all schools. I don't think it is free. I believe my school district has a contract through Blackboard. I'm so glad my school district chose Blackboard because it is very user friendly for both the teachers, parents, and students. Through the Blackboard site, it has its own blog application. It's not an independent blogging site; its an application through Blackboard. The students blog at school mostly however, the students have the option of going home and blogging extra time. Since I have 25 computers in my classroom, my students have 1:1 computer ratio. The students do not need to have email addresses to be able to blog through Blackboard in the classroom. As far as my PLN website, I have visited for advice on technology in the classroom, but have not had a lot of conversation opportunity yet. I look forward to being able to take the time to dedicate more time to my PLN site this week.
